Bagepalli, August 02: A youth died on the spot when a private bus ran over him near Sunkalamma Devi temple on National Highway 7 on Wednesday night.
The deceased is identified as Muhammed Musthafa (19) of Hindupura in Andhra Pradesh. Musthafa and his friend Harshad have been to Bengaluru in their car and while returning to Gorantla in Andhra Pradesh via national highway 7 during night, the tyre of the car got punctured. Later, while they were taking the tyre after repairing it to the car, the private bus coming from Bengaluru hit Mustafa near the temple and he died on the spot. But Harshad escaped unhurt. But the bus driver fled with the bus, it is said.
Bagepalli police who visited the spot registered a case.

New Delhi (PTI): President Droupadi Murmu on Monday condoled the loss of lives in the fire incident at a hospital in Odisha and prayed for a speedy recovery of the injured.
At least ten patients were killed after a major fire erupted in an ICU in Odisha government-run SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, in the wee hours of Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.
"Deeply distressed by the loss of lives in the tragic fire incident at a hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I wish a speedy recovery to those injured," Murmu said in a post on X.
