Huballi: JD(S) MLC member and senior leader Basavaraj Horatti on Friday remarked that the loss of HD Devegowda and his nephew Nikhil Kumaraswamy in general election this year was triggered by JD(S) leaders.

Speaking to reporters in the city on Friday Horatti said “Our leaders spoke badly and rudely about independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh in the Mandya constituency that sent wrong message among the voters against our own party there”.

“Our leaders targeted her for entering politics in less than three months of her husband’s demise, Nikhil lost to her because of such remarks and comments by our leaders” he said.

“Similarly the loss of HD Devegowda in Tumkuru constituency was also because of our leaders” he added.

“I should’ve been given ministerial post but I was told that I would be made speaker. But they didn’t fulfill this promise as well. Even after being able, I was ignored” he noted.

Answering a question by the reporter, Horatti said that the JD(S) had failed to keep their promises even during their earlier pact government with the BJP in 2008.
