Hassan: In an incident that reportedly occurred at Bikkodu in Belur, Sangh Parivar members barged into the Church during a prayer service and obstructed the gathering on Sunday morning.

A special worship service was underway at Bikkodu Church on Sunday morning when Sangh Parivar members suddenly barged inside the Church, and shouted slogans disrupting the service accusing them of undertaking conversion activities. During the time, the people in the church clarified saying, “Nobody has forced us to come here, we have come here of our own accord”, accusations are being made that despite this the Sangh members turned deaf ears and continued disrupting the service.

Reportedly, the confrontation between the Church goers and the disrupting Sangh members created an atmosphere of tension in the area. The police who arrived at the site upon learning about the issue tried to salvage the matter.

Church Manager, Suresh Pal said, “No conversion activities are happening in the Church. Few people barged into church and created an atmosphere of fear while prayers being conducted”, he accused.

Bidar: A 22-year-old rider, Mahesh, died on the spot while another was grievously injured in a head-on collision between motorbikes near Basava Nagar in Bhalki taluk on Saturday night.

The deceased, Mahesh, was a resident of Kuntesirsi village in Bhalki taluk. The second rider, Vivekananda (36), who is a resident of Navadgi village, is being treated at a hospital in Bidar.

Mahesh was reportedly riding from Bhalki to Kuntesirsi when his bike collided head-on with Vivekananda’s bike. Mahesh died on the spot due to the intensity of the collision.

A case has been registered at the Bhalki Town Police Station and the officers are probing the incident.
