Bengaluru: A 10-year-old schoolgirl died in an accident involving a BMTC bus on Kogilu Main Road at Yelahanka in Bengaluru on Thursday morning, reported The Hindu.

The victim, identified as Tanvi Krishna, a Class 5 student, was travelling on a scooter with her mother, Harshitha, on their way to school.

Police said Harshitha lost control of the two-wheeler, causing both of them to fall. While the mother sustained minor injuries, Tanvi, who was riding pillion, slipped under the bus and died on the spot.

The Yelahanka Traffic Police have registered a case against the bus driver for rash and negligent driving.

BMTC officials said the accident occurred around 8.20 a.m. near Yelahanka when the scooter lost balance due to roadwork and a parked vehicle. CCTV footage showed the two-wheeler skidding towards the rear wheel of the bus. BMTC officers reportedly visited the spot.

This is the third fatal accident involving BMTC buses in three days.

On August 19, a 37-year-old software engineer, Roshan, was killed at Sanjay Nagar when his two-wheeler lost control and he came under a moving bus.
