Bengaluru: The St. Mary’s Basilica, Bengaluru’s annual feast will be held on September 8, Thursday at the Shrine in Shivaji Nagar here in the city.

“We had a nine-day Novena in preparation for the Birthday Celebration of Mother Mary, which began on Monday, 29h August, till Wednesday, 7th September. Holy Masses were offered every day in Kannada, English and Tamil beginning from 5.30 am and going on till 8.30 pm.” The Shrine said in a press statement.

“On Thursday, 8th September, the Feast day, we have two solemn Eucharistic Celebrations in the morning at the Russell Market Square at 8.00 am in Kannada and 9.30 am in Tamil. His Grace, the Archbishop of Bangalore, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado will preside over both the Concelebrated Solemn High Masses.” It added.

At 5.30 pm, there will be a grand decorated chariot procession carrying the holy image of Blessed Mother Mary, in the streets of Shivaji Nagar.

“We take this opportunity to welcome you wholeheartedly to participate as well as witness the solemn celebration of Mary, the Blessed Mother of Jesus and of the universe, during which lakhs of people from all walks of life will converge as one human family with love and faith.” The release added.

Kannauj (UP), Mar 11 (PTI): Three people were killed and one person was injured in an accident involving a tractor trolley and two motorcycles on the national highway here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on National Highway 24 near Atara village at around 11 pm on Tuesday.

According to Sadar Kotwali Station House Officer Jitendra Pratap Singh, a farmer from Mawai village was returning home on a tractor-trolley when it collided with a motorcycle near Atara village in Jalalpur Panwara area.

The impact of the collision was so severe that it threw the two riders onto the road, killing them on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Ahad (20) and Arbaaz (16), both residents of Inayatpur village.

A man identified as Raju, a resident of Mawai village, was also injured in the accident and was admitted to the district hospital.

After the collision, the tractor driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned onto another motorcycle, killing its rider Amit (36), a resident of Chhibramau, on the spot.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, police said.
