Bengaluru: An Apple employee announced his decision to quit citing workplace harassment such as abusive language, managerial errors and Islamophobic comments at the corporate giant’s Bengaluru office.

Khalid Parvez had worked at Apple for more than a decade. He took to LinkedIn to share that after raising the concerning issues with the HR, he was asked to “trust the system” and was also assured of a proper investigation. However, after a two-month-long inquiry, he was unhappy with the inaction.

The disgruntled employee also expressed that Employee Relations Executive was keen on protecting the company’s and management’s interest. “When I asked about the Islamophobic comments - the ER said that none of my statements/incidents were substantiated by other employees. This is when I understood that there was never an investigation, this was some major corporate cover up,” he wrote. He further added that he was bullied with statements ridiculing his mental health.

Parvez mentioned that he had two options - to fight against the tech giant or handle a family emergency, he chose the latter. He then resigned the next day.

He also requested his colleagues and other corporate staff to raise their voice against discrimination, misconduct and abuse. Additionally, he urged them to document each and everything.

Apple India is yet to comment against these allegations.

New Delhi (PTI): Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the nuclear energy bill with Union minister Jitendra Singh asserting that it would help India achieve its target of 100 GW atomic energy generation by 2047.

The Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Bill, which seeks to open the tightly-controlled civil nuclear sector for private participation, was passed by voice vote amid a walkout by the opposition.

Singh termed the bill a "milestone legislation" that will give a new direction to the country's developmental journey.

"India's role in geopolitics is increasing. If we have to be a global player, we have to follow global benchmarks and global strategies. The world is moving towards clean energy. We too have set a target of 100 GW of nuclear energy capacity by 2047," he said.

The opposition contended that the bill diluted provisions of the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act, 2010 that passed on the liability for a nuclear incident on to the suppliers of nuclear equipment.
