Bengaluru: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 students who wrote the Kannada (Second language) paper on Saturday, were left scratching their head as they witnessed out of syllabus questions for at least 20 marks.

According to the reports about 25,975 students appeared for the paper from across the country on Saturday 9th March.

The question paper had questions from old syllabus which was changed couple of years ago. Some of the schools claimed that out of syllabus questions amounted for 26.5 marks while few claimed the figure to be 22 marks. An official clarification from the board is awaited.

Times of India quoted M srinivasan, President CBSE Independent Schools Association, Karnataka as saying “It was chaotic when the question papers were distributed. Students immediately noticed there was a problem. We need to speak to the CBSE and award grace marks or mull a re-exam. CBSE should be lenient in awarding grace marks”.

Several students took to twitter immediately after the exams to complain about the errors in a state of panic and worry.

A CBSE spokesperson however assured students of the board taking a ‘considered view to safeguard the interests of students as per it’s standard protocol’ and asked them not to panic.

Chennai (PTI): About 1.4 lakh students appeared for the NEET 2026 exam for admission to medical degree courses across 31 centres in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

Students claimed that the exam paper was easier than the previous year.

Organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA), 22.80 lakh students had registered for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate exam nationwide.

NTA sources said that CCTV surveillance was installed at all examination centres, with feeds linked to centralised control rooms.

In view of the large candidate volume and prevailing summer conditions, the NTA ensured reliable power back-up, including generators at all centres, to ensure candidate comfort during the exam. Also, drinking water and on-site medical support were provided to students.

The sources further said that no malpractices were reported, especially in Chennai. The results of NEET are expected to be declared in June, 2026.
