Bengaluru: Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy expected to resign
Bengaluru: Congress MLA from Pulikeshi Nagar Akhanda Srinivas Murthy is expected to resign as legislator since the party is yet to announce its candidate from the constituency.
The leaders of minority communities here have accused Akhanda Srinivas Murthy of causing the riots in DJ Halli and KG Halli in 2020, with his discriminatory attitude. It is also reported that the leaders urged the Congress High Command not to give ticket to Shrinivasa Murthy for the Assembly elections in May.
The Congress leaders are apparently yet to confirm on the party candidate from the constituency, following said developments in Pulikeshi Nagar in relation to the violence in 2020.
There are also rumours of Srinivas Murthy desiring to resign from his post, upset by the continued uncertainty on who the party would field from the constituency this year.

Elderly man dies after part of slab falls on him in Mumbai
Mumbai (PTI): A 75-year-old man died after some portion of a slab in a two-storey residential structure collapsed on him in Mumbai's Bhandup area on Saturday morning, officials said.
The incident occurred at Tulshipada in Patkar Compound of Bhandup West around 9.45 am, they said.
"The victim, identified as Susai Daevdas Kaunder, was injured when some part of the slab on the upper floor of a two-storey structure fell on him," a civic official said.
He was immediately taken to nearby Navkaar Hospital, where he was declared dead, the official said.
