Bengaluru, October 17: A couple died on the spot when a gas cylinder exploded in a house in Vijayanagar police station limits on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Shivanna (50) and Mandamma (42) of Panchasheela Nagar in Vijayanagar.
On Wednesday afternoon, the gas started leaking in the house and cylinder exploded, due to which, both husband and wife died on the spot. Because of the intensity of the explosion, the neighbouring house was also completely damaged.
Fire brigade staff who rushed to the spot doused the fire and the bodies were shifted to Victoria hospital. Vijayanagar police registered a case.

Bengaluru (PTI): Three passengers who arrived from Bangkok at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Wednesday were arrested with hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 4.53 crore, officials said.
The accused, whose identities have not been disclosed, were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, they said.
In a post on X, Bengaluru Customs said it intercepted three passengers arriving from Bangkok and seized 12.96 kg of hydroponic ganja, valued at Rs 4.53 crore, concealed in their check-in baggage.
Further investigation is underway.
