Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police have arrested 18 individuals suspected to be involved in 12 vehicle theft cases and recovered 120 stolen vehicles, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda announced on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, the Commissioner revealed that the recovered vehicles include 115 two-wheelers, four auto-rickshaws, and one car, with an estimated total value of ₹95 lakh. He also noted that eight to ten of the arrested suspects had previous criminal records.
The thefts mostly involved vehicles parked outside homes and offices, which were later relocated to different areas to avoid detection. Cases have been registered across multiple police stations, including Rajagopal Nagar (1), Girinagar (2), Banaswadi (2), Nandini Layout (1), HAL (1), Madiwala (1), Bellandur (1), JP Nagar (1), Thalaghattapura (1), and Basavanagudi (1).
Commissioner Dayananda emphasized that vehicle theft is a serious concern as stolen vehicles could be misused for criminal activities. He stated that the police would urge courts to cancel the bail pleas of the accused. He also advised vehicle owners to take extra precautions and use anti-theft devices to secure their vehicles.

Panaji (PTI): Police have busted an Indian Premier League (IPL) betting racket operating out of a house in South Goa, arresting four persons, an official said on Sunday.
A team from Verna police raided the premises in the Shindolim area of Sancoale village near Vasco on Saturday night and caught the accused red-handed while accepting bets on the cricket match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, he said.
The accused, Pranjal Tiwari (23), Amar Dawda (33), Shashank Kumar Sahu (19) and Sandeep Singh (23), hailed from Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and were staying in a rented premises.
As many as 10 mobile phones, two laptops, a tablet, an internet router with a signal receiver and cash worth Rs 37,000 were seized from the house, the official said, adding that a case has been registered under the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
