Bengaluru: Sampigehalli Police officers have arrested a woman, who had filed a complaint that her husband was missing but had murdered her husband with the help of an accomplice and dumped his body in a pit.

The police officers have arrested Nazeer Khatun (25) along with her elder sister Kashmiri (28), for the murder of Shakeel Akhtar, who had been a native of Bihar.

On October 9, Khatun, who was the second wife of Akhtar, allegedly strangulated her husband when he was sleeping, while her sister caught hold of his limbs, to prevent him from saving himself. After Akhtar died, the sisters tied up his body in a bedsheet and, coming out of the house into the heavy rain, dumped the body into a pit near the house. Two days later, Khatun filed a missing complaint with the police, regarding her husband, begging them to look for him, said police sources.

The Sampigehalli Police officers, while investigating the case and searching Akhtar, found a suspicious smell emanating from a pit near his house and, on checking, the team found the missing person's body. Further investigation revealed to the police that the man had been murdered by his wife and sister-in-law.

The police officers have now said that they have arrested the accused Khatun and her sister Kashmiri and are subjecting them to a questioning as a part of further investigation of the case.
