Bengaluru stampede: Karnataka HC directs release of marketing head of RCB, three others
Bengaluru, Jun 12 (PTI): Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered interim release of RCB Marketing head Nikhil Sosale and three others arrested in connection with the June 4 stampede that killed 11 people.
Others who got relief from the High Court are Sunil Mathew, Kiran Kumar S and Shamant N P Mavinakere of the event organising company DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd, who were also arrested on June 6.
The Court asked the arrested persons to surrender their passport.
The stampede that occurred outside the Chinnaswamy stadium claimed the lives of 11 people during an event organised to celebrate the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden IPL title win.
The case came up for hearing before Justice S R Krishna Kumar, who had reserved the verdict on interim plea by Sosale after hearing arguments on June 11.
Sosale and other petitioners are presently in judicial custody.
On June 9, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) produced Sosale and other three arrested individuals before a local magistrate court, seeking nine-day custody. But the magistrate court had deferred the matter awaiting HC decision.
The judge also took up the pleas of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, which manages RCB and DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt Ltd, seeking to quash FIR against their officials.
Justice Krishna Kumar said the petitions will be heard along with the one filed by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KCSA).
The court held that the gentleman understanding -- don't do anything till we take up the matter -- will hold good until then.

Allen, Raghuvanshi, Green power KKR to 29-run win over GT
Kolkata (PTI): Finn Allen blasted a 35-ball 93, while Angkrish Raghuvanshi hit an unbeaten 44-ball 82 as Kolkata Knight Riders kept their playoff hopes alive with a 29-run win over Gujarat Titans in the IPL match here on Saturday.
Sent in to bat, Allen went on a six-hitting spree, smashing 10 maximums and four boundaries to add 95 off 41 balls with Raghuvanshi (82).
Raghuvanshi then shared another 108 off 53 balls with Cameron Green (52 not out) to power KKR to a challenging 247 for 2.
In reply, GT could manage 218-4, riding on skipper Shubman Gill's 49-ball 85 and a 35-ball 57 from Jos Buttler. Opener Sai Sudarsan was retired hurt but returned to make a 28-ball 53 not out.
Sunil Narine (2/29) claimed two wickets and Saurabh Dubey snapped one for KKR.
For GT, Mohammed Siraj (1/50), Sai Kishore (1/38) were the wicket-takers.
