Bidar: The third national convention of the Quraish Conference (Registered), Karnataka, will be held on April 12 at the SM Hangargi Function Hall, located opposite the DCC Bank in Bidar city.

The announcement was made through a press note by Muhammad Nabi Qureshi, President of the Quraish Conference, Karnataka. The event will focus on issues related to the Quraish community, including concerns about their fundamental rights, problems faced by those in the business sector, and other challenges.

Delegates from several states such as Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Gujarat are expected to attend the event.

Some of the key topics on the agenda include promoting education, addressing social issues within the community, and discussing steps to protect traditional businesses and livelihoods.

The event will be presided over by Advocate Sanobar Ali Qureshi, National President of the Quraish Conference. Among the invited guests are Karnataka Minister for Local Government, Administration and Hajj Affairs, Mohammad Rahim Khan; former minister Bandappa Kasimpur; Dr. Abdul Qadeer, Chairman of the Shaheen Group of Institutions; and Mohammad Masood Ahmed, President of the Aam Aadmi Forum NGO.

Resolutions expected to be taken up during the convention include:

  • A request for the Karnataka Government to withdraw the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, and restore the earlier 1964 law.

  • A proposal to set up modern slaughterhouses at the district level using land owned by local municipal bodies to create employment.

  • An appeal to set up Meat Boards at both state and national levels, along with a single-window clearance system for the meat industry.

  • A demand for better representation of the Quraish community in state decision-making bodies.

  • Legal experts, including Supreme Court lawyers, will attend the convention to provide legal and constitutional viewpoints on the issues raised.

Latur (PTI): A three-year-old boy and his elder sister died after falling into a well while playing near their house in Latur city of Maharashtra, police said on Friday.

The incident took place in Taleburhan area here on Thursday.

"Alina Sameer Shaikh (6) and her brother Usman, aged three, fell into a well while playing. The incident took place around 4 pm on April 10," inspector Sujit Rejitwad said.

When they fell into the well, their eight-year-old brother panicked and rushed home to inform his family members about it, he said.

The family members and their neighbours immediately rushed to the place and launched a rescue operation. They managed to retrieve the children's bodies using a rope tied to a tree after nearly one-and-a-half hours of efforts, he said.

The father of the deceased children is an ice cream vendor, the police said.
