Bidar: In a historic achievement 53 students from Shaheen PU Science College have come out with flying colors by scoring 600 out of 600 marks in the PU Examinations. The results were recently announced by the Karnataka government wherein the students have achieved remarkable achievement.

A felicitation event was organized by the college for the students to secure 100% marks. Speaking at the event, the chairman of Shaheen Group of Institutions Dr. Abdul Qadir stated that out of 54 students in the Bidar district who achieved the feat of 100% marks this year, 53 belong to Shaheen PU College.

Shaheen Group of Institutions has been instrumental in uplifting the educational standards in the Bidar district and has raised the bar for educational institutions in the overall development of the students. Among other achievements of students of Shaheen Institutions previously are State rank in SSLC Urdu medium, State rank in CET in Veterinary medicine, third state rank in CET in Medical, 9 and 85 ranks in NEET exams.

In 22 years, the college's 1,900 students have secured a medical seat. He said the college won 400 medical seats last year and is confident of getting more seats this year.

Bidar Deputy Commissioner Ramachandra R, Directors of Shaheen Group Abdul Haseeb, Abdul Mukit, and heads of various departments were present during the event.

Deputy Commissioner Ramachandra R was all praise for the students and the institution and lauded their efforts in setting new milestones in the educational sector in the district. He added it was a proud moment for the people of the district that a college had fared so much to achieve the milestone.

Shimla (PTI): Three people have been arrested for allegedly murdering a Buddhist woman monk in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh nearly a month ago, police said on Friday.

The accused -- Gagan Sharma (23), Vishal (23) and Gaurav Sharma (20), all residents of Mandi -- were arrested on Thursday night, police said.

According to police, the 78-year-old Buddhist woman monk, Orje Shoki, was found murdered in a cave near Sarkidhar village, following which a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to nab the accused.

Mandi Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Kumar said that during the investigation, more than 50 suspects were questioned and DNA samples of several suspects were also collected.

After a detailed investigation, the accused were arrested from different locations on Thursday night, he said.

Kumar said all the accused are drug addicts and they committed the crime with the intention of looting the victim, so that they could buy drugs.

Efforts are on to nab two more accused wanted in the case. They will be put behind bars soon, the SP said.
