Bengaluru, September 18: JDS state president H Vishwanath said that the BJP which has failed completely as a strong opposition party, has been conspiring to topple the government forgetting their positions.
Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Tuesday, he said that opposition parties would play a great role in the development of any state. But the BJP leaders were interested in destabilizing the coalition government and not interested towards public issues. They were not speaking a single word on reconstructing Kodagu which was destroyed in the natural disaster. The government has to retain and protect Kodagu which is one among the best tourist spots in the state. So, the BJP leaders should keep their selfish politics aside and put pressure on the central government for special package to reconstruct Kodagu, he advised.
BJP is responsible
BJP leaders were completely responsible for the present political crisis in the state. They have involved in luring the MLAs of the ruling coalition partners in order to topple the government. Their move was detrimental to the democratic system, he said.
Regional party is best for state
Chief Minister H.D Kumaraswamy has reduced Rs 2 in petrol and diesel prices. But the BJP which has been ruling other states was tight-lipped on reducing petroleum products prices. For the overall development of the state, regional parties were the best choice instead of national parties, he opined.
The people of the country have been demanding against increasing the prices of petroleum products. But the central government has been increasing the prices every day. With the hike of the prices of petroleum products, the central government has earned over Rs 2 lakh crore profit. But the central government has been crying foul, he said.
Former MLC Ramesh Babu was present at the press conference.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government will take special initiatives to provide NEET coaching to students from rural areas, Medical Education, Skill Development and Livelihood Minister Dr Sharanaprakash R. Patil told the Legislative Council on Monday.
According to The New Indian Express, during the Question Hour, Congress MLC Ivan D’Souza raised concerns that the NEET system is depriving rural students of medical education and questioned whether poor students from rural areas can afford the coaching with just Rs 3 lakh provided.
Responding to the issue, Patil said the NEET system has not reduced the number of medical seats in the state, nor has it caused any shortage.
He said that while they had decided to scrap the NEET system, the Supreme Court had ruled in its favour.
The minister assured that the government will introduce various measures to provide more effective NEET coaching to rural students so that they can compete better in the examination.
