Bengaluru, November 19: Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwar alleged that without giving any contribution to the society, the BJP has been trying to conceal the programmes of the Congress and the history of the country.
Speaking at the birth anniversary of former prime minister late Indira Gandhi at the KPCC office here on Monday, the DCM said that Indira Gandhi was one among those who would be remembered in the political history. Though some people had ruled the country, they had never made a mark. But Indira Gandhi had made a permanent mark in the history through her administration. When the country was reeling under scarcity of food, she had introduced Green Revolution to make the country self-reliant in food production, he added.
With the nationalization of banks, Indira Gandhi had given power to the poor people to open the bank accounts and get loans. But the BJP has never given any contributions to the country. Instead of it, it has been conspiring to conceal the Congress programmes and the history, he alleged.
With the intention of continuing the Congress programmes, they have formed the coalition government. Previous Siddaramaiah-led Congress government had introduced various pro-farmers programmes. Without tolerating it, the BJP leaders have been trying to mislead the farmers against the coalition government and the Congress, he said.
The Congress party is in favour of the farmers. In its four and half years administration, Narendra Modi government has done nothing for the farmers. So, the BJP would be wiped out in the next Lok Sabha election and the Congress would come to power again. Only Congress would protect the democracy, he said.
Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, former chief minister Siddaramaiah and others were present.
