Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra has said that coordination committees between the BJP and JD(S) will be formed soon after consultations with party leaders.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday after meeting Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to extend Diwali greetings, Vijayendra said discussions were held on the current political situation in the state. “Within the next 8–10 days, names for the coordination committee will be finalised and sent to Kumaraswamy,” he said.
Vijayendra noted that Kumaraswamy had suggested forming two coordination panels, one for the Greater Bengaluru region and another for the rest of the state, given the upcoming elections to the Greater Bengaluru Authority.
Criticising the Congress government, Vijayendra said, “The administration has deteriorated under the present regime. Bengaluru and the entire state are suffering due to poor governance. The condition of city roads and basic infrastructure is deplorable.”
He also took exception to the government’s response to civic advice from industry leaders. “Prominent figures like Mohandas Pai and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw have made constructive suggestions on improving Bengaluru’s roads, but the government has ignored them. Instead, ministers have chosen to insult such respected individuals, which reflects poorly on the administration,” he remarked.
Vijayendra further alleged that illegal gambling activities like matka and betting rackets were flourishing in several districts, including Shivamogga, with the support of ruling party legislators and police officials. “Many have been pushed to suicide because of these rackets. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar boast about their ‘guarantee schemes’ as if they’re a national model, while the ground reality tells another story,” he said.
Terming the government’s guarantees as “hollow promises,” Vijayendra warned that people are closely watching the misuse of public resources. “In the coming days, the BJP and JD(S) will jointly decide on launching protests against this government,” he added.
Taking a dig at IT Minister Priyank Kharge, Vijayendra said, “I don’t know what made Priyank Kharge speak ill of the RSS. Maybe it’s a political stunt to gain attention or a move to secure a higher post. He now stands isolated, trying to cover up the failures of the Congress government. The BJP’s route march in Chittapur on November 2 will be held successfully,” he asserted.

Panaji (PTI): The Bombay High Court on Monday converted a civil suit against Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub into a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) saying "someone has to be held accountable" for the tragedy in which 25 people were killed. In a stern observation, Goa bench of the High Court of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ashish Chavan said the local panchayat had "failed to take suo motu cognisance" of the club and had taken "no action despite complaints."
The division bench directed the Goa government to file a detailed reply on the permissions granted to the nightclub.
The High Court, while fixing January 8 as the next date of hearing, pointed out that commercial operations were continuing in the structure despite it having been served a demolition order.
The original petition was filed after the December 6 tragedy by Pradeep Ghadi Amonkar and Sunil Divkar, the owners of the land on which the nightclub was operating.

Advocate Rohit Bras de Sa, the lawyer representing the petitioner, was made amicus curiae in the matter and has been asked to file a detailed affidavit in the matter.
In their petition, Amonkar and Divkar highlighted "the alarming pattern of statutory violations that have remained inadequately addressed despite multiple complaints, inspections, show-cause notices, and even a demolition order".
They contended that these violations posed "immediate threats to public safety, ecological integrity, and the rule of law in the state of Goa."
Investigations by multiple agencies into the nightclub fire have revealed various irregularities, including lack of permissions to operate the nightclub.
The Goa police arrested five managers and staff members of the club, while co-owners Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra have been detained in Thailand after they fled the country.
