BJP leader Manikanth Rathod, his friend attacked by unidentified men near NH in Chittapur
Kalaburagi: BJP leader Manikanth Rathod and his friend Shrikanth Sulegaon were assaulted with beer bottles by unidentified persons at around midnight on Saturday near the Shankarwadi Cross on the National Highway 150 at Malagatti in Chittapur taluk.
Rathod and Sulegaon were traveling from the BJP leader's farm house by the national highway to Kalaburagi late Saturday night, when the duo was attacked with liquor bottles. Rathod was seriously injured in the attack, and is being treated at a local private hospital. Sulegaon, who sustained minor injuries, is reportedly out of danger.
The identity of the miscreants who attacked Rathod and Sulegaon and the reason for the act are yet to be ascertained. The local police are investigating the matter.

Four children drown in lake while trying to catch ducks in Chikkamagaluru
Chikkamagaluru: Four children drowned in a lake in Aralaguppe village after reportedly going to catch ducks, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Mahdia, Arunus, Nayus, and Abdul Rehman. The children were aged between 5 and 14 years. Another child, Armaan (4), escaped unhurt.
Police said the incident occurred at Karanji Lake in Aralaguppe village. Rural police visited the spot and are investigating the case. A case has been registered at the local rural police station.
