Shivamogga: BJP Member of Parliament (MP) BY Raghavendra has accused the Karnataka state government of implementing projects that he believes will adversely affect the future prospects of the state's youth. Raghavendra specifically commented on the Yuva Nidhi guarantee scheme, launched by the Congress government in the city on Friday.
During a press meet in Shivamogga, the MP alleged that the Yuva Nidhi scheme was introduced in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections. He expressed suspicion that the unemployed youth in Karnataka might only benefit from the scheme after the polls.
Raghavendra highlighted the rising unemployment rate and the plight of farmers facing drought in Karnataka. He criticized the state government for not adequately addressing these issues.
While praising Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's decision to rename Freedom Park in the city after 12th-century Kannada poet-seer Allama Prabhu, Raghavendra welcomed the move. However, he criticized the CM for wrongly attributing the development of Freedom Park to his efforts. According to Raghavendra, the park was established under the BJP government led by former CM BS Yediyurappa.
