Shivamogga: Former minister and senior leader of the BJP K.S. Eshwarappa has pointed out that the party cannot progress under only the new Karnataka State President of the party B.Y. Vijayendra and will need to be supported by all its members.
Addressing reporters in the city on Saturday, Eshwarappa, who is a former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, said, "No party can grow under only one person and in the BJP too, it is not just one person who is shouldering the responsibility of the entire party. Like every person in the party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also is only member of the BJP."
Referring to the new State President, Eshwarappa said, "Vijayendra cannot single-handedly manage all aspects of the party's working. We will win the 28 seats in the Lok Sabha from Karnataka as a united force. The Lok Sabha elections next year will be dealt with by the BJP through collective leadership than depending on only one person."
Jeering the Congress party and saying it is 'non-existent' across India, the BJP leader asked, "Where do you find the Congress in India? Even in Karnataka, we find the party in tatters. I am completely unaware of where to search all over India, to see the Congress."
Commenting on the recent post by the Congress on its 'X' account equating the appointment of Vijayendra with 'dynastic politics', Eshwarappa said the Congress had no moral right to do so. "The members of only one family have headed the All India Congress Committee. There is also no opposition to this in their party. In contrast, all members of the BJP are united and we are confident that Vijayendra will contribute to the growth of the party," he added.
