Shivamogga: Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa stated that he is not responsible for KS Eshwarappa's son losing the ticket.

He addressed the media after inspecting the arrangements for the upcoming event at Allama Prabhu Maidan in the city on Saturday, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Shivamogga on March 18.

Responding to questions about Eshwarappa's potential displeasure, Yediyurappa remarked, "Eshwarappa might be upset, but I am confident that he will attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's program. He has played a significant role in party building."

Yediyurappa expressed optimism that the situation would improve, noting efforts by state leaders to communicate with Eshwarappa. He clarified that ticket distribution is decided by the Central Election Committee, and Eshwarappa's perception is mistaken.

Regarding the Modi program in Kalaburagi, Yediyurappa said that the party's goal is to win all 28 constituencies in the state. He said that victory in 26 seats is confirmed and there might be some changes in 1-2 seats. "In Shivamogga, we have already won, what is left to see is only the margin," he added.

He also said that he was ready to address any needs as directed by party leaders after the Modi program concludes.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.

“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.

The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.

Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.

There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
