Bengaluru, December 25: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s statement ‘shoot out killers’, that was said emotionally after his party leader Prakash of Thoppenahalli in Maddur taluk was killed, has snowballed into a controversy after opposition party BJP criticizing the CM strongly.
“A Chief Minister of the state should not give such statements. He should have thought about the law and order situation in the state before issuing such a statement. Instead of directing the authorities to punish the criminals within the legal framework, he has asked the police to shoot out the killers which is not fair”, said Opposition leader BS Yeddyurappa.
Speaking to reporters at a free health check up camp organized to mark the birth anniversary of former prime minster Atal Bihari Vajpayee here on Tuesday, Yeddyurappa said that with the love towards his party worker, Kumaraswamy has forgotten that he is the CM of the state. Such statements would instigate the police and officers to take wrong steps. Whether he was JDS worker or a common man, such killings should not happen. I strongly condemn the murder of Prakash. Such statements would have negative impact on the state. Kumaraswamy should tender apology of the state immediately, he demanded.
However, former prime minister HD Deve Gowda justified the statement issued by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy. The JDS supremo retaliated Yeddyurappa who sought apology from Kumaraswamy. “I would not give answer to the statement of Yeddyurappa. Before this murder, the village has witnessed three more killings. Those who have come out of jail on bail, have attacked our party workers. The murder of party worker has pained Kumaraswamy. So, Kumaraswamy has given such statement in grief. Nothing wrong in it”, he justified.
Later, Kumaraswamy said that action would be taken as per law. Is it possible to shoot out when somebody instructed it? There is no need to analyse it, he said.
Clarifying about his statement, Kumaraswamy said that out of grief he has issued the statement. It is suspected that the accused in Prakash murder case are involved in two more murders. The murder has not caused any clash. Officials have been investigating the case, he said.

Panaji (PTI): As part of a crackdown against tourist establishments violating laws and safety norms in the aftermath of the Arpora fire tragedy, Goa authorities on Saturday sealed a renowned club at Vagator and revoked the fire department NOC of another club.
Cafe CO2 Goa, located on a cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea at Vagator beach in North Goa, was sealed. The move came two days after Goya Club, also in Vagator, was shut down for alleged violations of rules.
Elsewhere, campaigning for local body polls, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said the fire incident at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub at Arpora, which claimed 25 lives on December 6, happened because the BJP government in the state was corrupt.
An inspection of Cafe CO2 Goa by a state government-appointed team revealed that the establishment, with a seating capacity of 250, did not possess a no-objection certificate (NOC) of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The club, which sits atop Ozrant Cliff, also did not have structural stability, the team found.
The Fire and Emergency Services on Saturday also revoked the NOC issued to Diaz Pool Club and Bar at Anjuna as the fire extinguishers installed in the establishment were found to be inadequate, said divisional fire officer Shripad Gawas.
A notice was issued to Nitin Wadhwa, the partner of the club, he said in the order.
Campaigning at Chimbel village near Panaji in support of his party's Zilla Panchayat election candidate, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal said the nightclub fire at Arpora happened because of the "corruption of the Pramod Sawant-led state government."
"Why this fire incident happened? I read in the newspapers that the nightclub had no occupancy certificate, no building licence, no excise licence, no construction licence or trade licence. The entire club was illegal but still it was going on," he said.
"How could it go on? Couldn't Pramod Sawant or anyone else see it? I was told that hafta (bribe) was being paid," the former Delhi chief minister said.
A person can not work without bribing officials in the coastal state, Kejriwal said, alleging that officers, MLAs and even ministers are accepting bribes.
