Vijayapura, Dec 31: “Before coming to power, the BJP leaders have promised of constructing Ram Mandir in various election rallies. Fulfill those promises before next Lok Sabha elections.
Now, there is government and it has majority. Is it possible to fulfill the promise if there would be no majority in future”, Vishveshwara Thirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt asked the BJP government at the centre.
In a media interaction during his visit to Kaggoda to participate in Indian cultural festival on Monday, the Swamiji said that “We have waited for five years for Ram Mandir construction. Now we are prevailing upon the BJP government at the centre. The promises were not fulfilled.
But this is the right time for Ram Mandir construction. Though the Mandir construction issue is in Supreme Court, the centre could bring in Ordinance as per the opinions of legal experts. In view of this, the government should take a strong decision to retain the people’s faith on it”, he said.
”Ram Mandir issue was already discussed in the Dharma Samsath, for which we are giving the deadline till election for the construction of Ram Mandir. The central government should live up to its promises”, he demanded.
Let govt convene meeting
“The government itself should convene a harmony meeting between Hindus and Muslims. Earlier, we had conducted such meetings. When Krishnakanth was the vice president, I had convened Hindu-Muslim meeting. Now, I could not organize such meeting. It is better that the central government should convene such meetings. Let the government invite the Muslim religious leaders and us. It should take the first step of harmony. I would participate if the government convened such meeting”, he said.
Swamiji invites Prof Bhagavan to mutt
It was not fair to insult Sri Rama by Prof Bhagavan and others. Earlier also, an open discussion was called at Mysuru over the issue. But the government did not allow it citing law and order problem.
But he would personally invite Prof Bhagavan to the Mutt and discuss with him. He was ready for discussion. If Prof Bhagavan did not accept his invitation, then he would think that the writer has no courage to face him, the swamiji said.
Farmer-Rama both are important
“Both Rama and farmer are important. Rama is a symbol of self –esteem, farmer is the symbol of the country. The governments should take concerns towards the farmers. I would take both the issue together. The governments should take all possible steps to empower farmers economically”, he said.
When Swamiji was asked about Achche Din and administration, the Swamiji said that he would not speak political issues. Why don’t you question the working style of the government? Ask about it. The state government has not introduced any good programmes. But some programmes of the central government were good, he said.

Bhatkal: The Karnataka unit of the All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA) has welcomed the Karnataka government’s decision to strictly ban school children from dancing to obscene songs during educational and cultural programmes in government, aided, and private schools across the state.
AIITA Karnataka State President M. R. Manvi congratulated the government for taking what he termed an important step to preserve the sanctity of education.
“Such decisions to safeguard the dignity of school children and uphold the values of education are the need of the hour. This rule should not be limited to government schools alone but must be strictly implemented in all private educational institutions as well,” he said.
He further urged the government to address other concerns within school programmes.
“The government should not only prohibit obscene dances in the name of school anniversaries, but also ensure that plays and dialogues that incite religious hatred are avoided. Schools should be centres of harmony, not platforms for spreading hatred,” he added.
According to a recent circular issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy, obscene dances are adversely affecting the mental health and moral values of students.
In this regard, schools have been advised to use songs that promote nationalism, positive thinking, the greatness of Kannada culture, and value-based traditions instead of inappropriate content during programmes.
The circular also emphasises that students should be dressed in decent attire.
AIITA also backed the department’s warning that disciplinary action would be taken against head teachers if such guidelines are violated. The association has further demanded that district Deputy Directors of Public Instruction strictly monitor the implementation of these rules.
