Mangaluru: A Facebook post claiming that “no government has survived after provoking Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat” has sparked outrage online, with many demanding legal action against the author for issuing an indirect threat that could disturb communal harmony.

The controversy follows the registration of a case against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat at Puttur Rural Police Station for an alleged hate speech delivered during the ‘Deepotsava’ event held at Uppaligadi, Puttur.

In the aftermath, a Facebook user named Vasanth Gilyar posted, “No government has survived after provoking Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat! I hear there’s pressure to arrest Bhattaru. The coastal region will turn fiery. It’s safer not to take the risk of testing his influence. Let coastal Karnataka remain peaceful.”

The post has drawn sharp criticism across social media, with users accusing Gilyar of issuing veiled threats and attempting to intimidate authorities.

One user, Divyath K. Poojary, commented, “People like him don’t respect women. I once attended his speech and walked out halfway. We have nothing to learn from those who preach hatred in the name of religion.”

Another user, Musthafa M F, rebuked Gilyar, saying, “What kind of journalist are you? Learn to respect the law. Do you even know what the Supreme Court has said? Anyone spreading religious hate should be arrested, including the organisers. No one is above the law.”

Yadava Kuntalapady wrote, “If someone is arrested, nothing will happen. If violence breaks out, those who incite it will be directly held responsible. We have honest police officers who will act accordingly.”

Meanwhile, Anand Kumar Halagere commented, “Don’t overthink. Let Hariprasad become Home Minister and watch what happens.”

A user named Sanatan Dharam warned Gilyar, saying, “This post may pose a risk for you for the inflammatory content! Try to modify the post.”

Another user, Prasanna Hegde, wrote provocatively, “If that is the intention of Naveen Soorinje, let it ignite once. Maybe then Hindus will wake up from their slumber.”

Others used the thread to issue further political and communal remarks. Shivappa Gowda referred to it as “Child Kharge’s advance farewell signal,” while Prakash K.T. suggested that if the government mishandled the case, sectors like transport, labour, healthcare, education, and hotels could teach the government a fitting lesson.

In a disturbing comment, Shashikanth B.C. wrote a direct threat mentioning, “First, finish off that boy Priyank. Jai Bhim.”

Hassan (Karnataka) (PTI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that the Congress government led by him was ready to face the no-confidence motion if moved by the opposition during the legislature session from December 8.

With Deputy CM D K Shivakumar by his side, he reiterated that they would both abide by the high command's decision on the leadership issue.

"Let them (opposition) bring in a no-confidence motion or adjournment motion or any other motion. We are ready to face it. Ours is an open book, transparent government. We are ready to face anything," Siddaramaiah said in response to a question.

However, BJP state President B Y Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R Ashoka, clarified that the party, along with the JD(S) has not discussed or decided anything so far regarding moving a no-confidence motion against the government.

The winter session of the Karnataka legislature will begin in Belagavi, bordering Maharashtra, on December 8 and will go on till 19th of this month.

Not wanting to react to a question on the leadership issue, the CM said the Congress high command is very strong.

"D K Shivakumar and I will be committed to whatever the high command decides," he said.

Earlier in the day in Bengaluru, Shivakumar accompanied AICC Mallikarjun Kharge till airport from Vidhana Soudha, after paying tributes to B R Ambedkar on his 69th death anniversary, which had led to some speculation about possible discussion between the two on the leadership issue.

The power tussle within the ruling party had intensified amid speculation about a change in chief minister in the state, after the Congress government reached the halfway mark of its five-year term on November 20.

However, both the CM and Deputy CM had recently held breakfast meetings at each others residences, on the instructions of the high command, which is seen as a move to pause the leadership tussle between the two and to signal Siddaramaiah's continuation as the CM for the time being, especially ahead of the Belagavi legislature session.
