Chamarajanagar: In a heart-wrenching incident, a newborn baby girl, aged around 10 to 15 days old, was found abandoned on the roadside between Sagade and Thamadahalli in Harave Hobli of Chamarajanagar taluk.

The infant, wrapped in a cloth, was spotted by a local resident, Paramesh, who immediately rushed her to the Sagade Primary Health Center for initial care.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Anganwadi worker Nagamani arrived at the health center and later coordinated the transfer of the baby to the Chamarajanagar Mother and Child Hospital, where she is currently being treated in the newborn intensive care unit. Officials from the Department of Women and Child Welfare have also visited the hospital.

Speaking to the media, Paramesh said, "While I was on my way to Chamarajanagar, I saw someone standing by the roadside between Sagade and Thamadahalli. As I approached, I noticed a small baby lying there. We immediately contacted the ASHA worker and took the child to the hospital. Later, she was shifted to the district hospital by ambulance."

Anganwadi worker Nagamani added, "I received a call saying a baby had been found by the roadside. I rushed to the spot and found the infant. She looked fine but exhausted. After informing the Gram Panchayat president and members, we arranged for an ambulance and brought her to the district hospital. The baby is now safe and recovering well."

New Delhi (PTI): Delhi Police announced a series of infrastructure and technology upgrades under the Safe City Project, including the expansion of surveillance systems and construction of new facilities, on the occasion of its 79th Raising Day.

Officials said that under the project, the Command and Control Centre will be further strengthened and several CCTV cameras have already been installed across the national capital. The surveillance system is equipped with advanced features such as hand-gesture recognition, facial detection and overcrowding alerts to enhance real-time monitoring.

"Mobile command vehicles will also be deployed to improve on-ground coordination during emergencies and major events," a senior police officer said.

The Special Cell headquarters will be constructed in Lodhi Colony to bolster operational efficiency. In addition, three new police stations and six police chowkis will be set up.

A seven-floor hostel for women police personnel will be built in Rohini, with accommodation capacity for 132 staff members, officials said.
