Belagavi, Dec 20: “The government would take measures to reach the benefits of interest-free micro loan under the Badavara Bandhu scheme to total 4.5 lakh street vendors families in the state. In the same way, the government is mulling to purchase products prepared by women associations under Kayaka Scheme”, said Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.
Inaugurating the Kayaka Scheme and distributing the cheques to the beneficiaries under Badavara Bandhu scheme, organized by the Cooperative Department at Dharmanatha Bhavan here on Thursday, the CM said that training would be given to the women associations to prepare various products and marketing them under the Kayaka scheme. A decision would be taken shortly to purchase such products from the government to help those women associations, he added.
The poor people have been suffering due to loans. To help those families, the government has implemented Badavara Bandhu and Kayaka scheme. In coming days, many schemes of such nature would be implemented for the benefit of the poor, he said.
Farmers are being misled
The government has a big challenge of waiving of over Rs 46,000 crore loans. Unfortunately, some people have been misleading the farmers who should not be carried away by such false propaganda, he said appealing the farmers to have faith on him.
Under the loan waiver scheme, 12 districts in Belagavi and Kalaburgi division in North Karnataka would get the benefit of waiver of loans to the tune of Rs 29,000 crore. Even then, some vested interests have been trying to create an issue that the government was neglecting the North Karnataka. There was no reason to neglect North Karnataka as he does not have such discrimination like North Karnataka or South Karnataka. There was no need to get panic as the government was committed to protect the interests of the poor and farmers, he said.
Farmers loan waiver scheme was a model to the entire country due to which officials of other states including the central government were getting information and coming to the state for the study. In order to alleviate the farmers from loans, the government was planning a different and innovative farming system, but it would require some time. Since he was not in favour of any caste or religion, he wanted to develop the state as a model state in the country, he declared.
Kayaka Scheme
Cooperative Minister Bandeppa Kashempur said that as per Basavanna’s words ‘Work is worship’, the main objective of the project was to empower the working class. Kayaka scheme was a model in the entire country as the government would give interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh. New Delhi (PTI): Approximately 13 lakh litres of packaged drinking water -- 'Rail Neer' -- are being supplied to train passengers across the railway network daily, the government informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply on Wednesday.
Apprising the Lower House about the Indian Railways' endeavour to provide safe and potable drinking water facilities at all stations, the government also provided zone-wise details of the water vending machines (WVMs) installed there.
"To ensure the quality of drinking water being made available at the railway stations, instructions exist for periodical checking and required corrective action to be taken.
"Regular inspection and maintenance of drinking water facilities is carried out and complaints are attended to promptly," Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while responding to a question raised by BJP MP Anup Sanjay Dhotre seeking to know the supply of drinking water at railway stations across the country
"Complaints regarding deficiency in services, including water supply, are received through various channels such as public complaints, web portals, social media, etc. These complaints are received at various levels, including the Railway Board, zonal railways, division office, etc.," Vaishnaw said.
"The complaints so received are forwarded to the concerned wings of Railways and necessary action is taken to check and address them. As receipt of such complaints and action taken thereon is a continuous and dynamic process, a centralised compendium of these is not maintained," he added.
Providing zone-wise details of water vending machines, the minister said 954 such machines have been installed across railway stations.
"The Indian Railways also provides safe and affordable packaged drinking water bottles -- Rail Neer -- approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in trains and at stations," Vaishnaw said.
"Approximately, 13 lakh litres of Rail Neer are being supplied per day to the travelling passengers in trains and at stations across the Indian Railways network," he added.
