Chikkamagaluru : An FIR has been registered against former minister CT Ravi in the Chikkamagaluru city police station for posting hateful content on social media.

The complaint was lodged by an Assistant Returning Officer of the Social Media Monitoring Committee of the Election Commission. It alleged that CT Ravi's post on a social networking site violated the Election Code of Conduct. Based on this complaint, the police have registered an FIR against CT Ravi.

In the post, CT Ravi commented on Rahul Gandhi, saying, "The depth of the ocean can be measured, but the hatred in Rahul Gandhi's mind for Hindus and Hinduism is immeasurable. Rahul Gandhi has said that our struggle is against Shakti. Shakti has a special meaning and respect in Hinduism, the struggle against it. Those who do, are the opponents of Hinduism."

The Election Commission deemed this statement defamatory under the code of conduct and instructed the district-level election officer to file a complaint against the statement and submit a report.
