Ballari, November 22: “We have not come together for power. Instead we have come together for the sake of the country. The central government has been weakening various institutions including CBI”, former prime minister HD Deve Gowda.
Speaking at a thanksgiving programme at the Municipal ground here on Thursday, he said that the central government has been attacking the leaders of the Opposition Party leaders. So, in order to win the by-election, the Congress-JDS have come together.
Questioning the clamorous campaigning and using insulting words, Deve Gowda said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ruled the country in a worst condition. Ugrappa has contested from Ballari and elected with a huge margin. The people of the district selected him and he was an experienced politician, he said.
For the last 18 years, BJP was elected from Ballari constituency. Now, Minister DK Shivakumar has taken over the by-election and now, won the election. Ugrappa has strived for the reservation and including the Nayak community to ST category. In Uttar Pradesh, Muslims were harassed and dalits were assaulted. Many of such incidents have happened in the country and it was the right time to dethrone the BJP from the country, he said.
“We have won in Ballari, Mandya, Jamakhandi and Ramanagar constituencies. But in Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, we have lost in a narrow margin. Rahul Gandhi has become the AICC president in young age and the next Lok Sabha election will be conducted under his leadership. Ugrappa will contest again”, he said.
Coordination Committee president and former chief minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, Ballari District Incharge Minister DK Shivakumar, MP VS Ugrappa, leaders Allam Veerabhadrappa and others were present.
“BJP leaders including BS Yeddyurappa have said that they would form the government after the by-election results. Sriramulu has said that ‘Shanta will go to Parliament, DKS will go to jail’. But what message does the result gave to the country? This victory is the victory of Ballari people. There was no voice of Ballari people in the parliament. In future, Ugrappa will become your voice. I will bring special package for the development of the district”.
- DK Shivakumar, District Incharge Minister

"Our further action will be determined after the survey report is reviewed," Sharma said.

"We have all the necessary evidence, and we will first request a copy of the survey report before strongly presenting our side in court," Warsi stated.
