Kolar: After a long wait and lot of speculations, Congress has finally announced KV Gautam as it’s candidate for Kolar Lok Sabha seat
On March 27, three MLAs and two MLCs from Kolar district had threatened to submit their resignations from the membership of the Legislative Assembly and Council, respectively, opposing the possible candidature of Chikka Peddanna for the Kolar (SC) Lok Sabha constituency.
Deputy Chief Minister Dk Shivakumar, speaking to reporters at his residence in Bengaluru on March 28, said, “The issue will be discussed in a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. No one will resign from the party over this.”
The Congress MLAs had warned the high command that they would resign if the Congress ticket from the Kolar Lok Sabha constituency was given to the family of Minister KH Muniappa.
Kolar MLA Kothur Manjunath, Malur MLA KY Nanjegowda, Minister MC Sudhakar, Vidhan Parishad member Anil Kumar, and Naseer Ahmed were the legislators who threatened to resign.
Kolar now sees a fresh face emerge, benefiting from the rift between the two factions.

Pune, Nov 24: The Maharashtra excise department on Sunday cancelled the permit for serving alcohol at actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh's concert in the Kothrud area of Pune later in the evening, an official said.
The department cancelled the permit after people from different quarters, including Kothrud's newly elected BJP MLA Chandrakant Patil, objected to plans to serve liquor at the programme.
State excise commissioner C Rajput said, "The state excise department has cancelled the permission to serve liquor during the programme."
MLA Patil raised an objection against the concert scheduled at Kakade Farm in Kothrud later in the evening.
The BJP leader, in a statement, said, "Such shows are not part of the city's culture. This will create a major disturbance for residents of the area. The event will also cause traffic jams. Hence, I have urged the city police commissioner to cancel the programme."
