Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah on Thursday asserted that communalism was spreading across the country and Congress had failed to convince people about it.

Addressing an event at KPCC Office in the city to mark the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Siddaramaiah added that the fear of communalism was spreading in the country and the party workers had failed to convince people about it.

He further added that the ruling BJP had no respect for the Indian Constitution enacted by Dr. BR Ambedkar and the RSS was a caste-based organization that works to empower the upper castes. “The BJP is acting as a mask to the RSS” he added.

“Most people in Congress are unaware of the principles of the party. There is no benefit of attending party events just for fun”. He said Congress activists, mainly those at the grassroots level, should be sure of the Congress’ principles.

“The BJP has filed case in the Supreme Court against the women reservation. They had opposed the Mandal Committee. Why don’t the women’s community get these things?” the former CM questioned. “They will get all the Airports of the country privatized, recently, the Mangaluru International Airport was also sold to the Adani group”, he added
