Bengaluru: Basavaraja Bommai, the leader of the opposition, has criticised the Congress party, stating that it is facing difficulties in finding candidates willing to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections due to fears of losing. He also mentioned that even ministers are hesitant to contest.
In a media interaction, Bommai highlighted the innovative approach taken this time in selecting candidates. He mentioned that candidates like Dr. Manjunath, who saved the health of millions, and Maharaja Yaduveer Wadiyar were chosen to send a positive message in South Karnataka.
Bommai spoke on the significance of the Wodeyar family in the development of South India, particularly in uplifting backward classes. He stated that South Karnataka is pleased with the decision to field candidates from the Wadiyar family, indicating a transition from the old guard to new leadership, a move he believes is only possible in the BJP.
Adding to this, Bommai mentioned that there is a lack of confidence among Congress ministers, with some fearing defeat. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also stated that MPs who did not receive tickets are in contact with the Congress, indicating a challenge in finding candidates willing to contest under the party's banner.
