Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Dr. G Parameshwara on Wednesday lauded the BJP’s move to field a former IAS Officer against him from the Korategere constituency.
He hailed the move and termed it “great” while also stating that he was confident of winning the constituency as the people there would recognize his work and services.
“Anil Kumar was an IAS Officer, and we worked together. Now he will be contesting as a BJP candidate. It’s great they have given a ticket to him. I have done a lot of work & people recognize that” Parameshwara said.
He further added that it was important for Congress to come back to power as there were things happening in the country that should not be happening.
“It is important that Congress comes back in power, as there are many things happening that should not be happening in the country,” he said.

Palakkad (Kerala) (PTI): A Vande Bharat train operating from Ernakulam to Bengaluru sustained minor damage in a stone-pelting incident a day earlier, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred near Parali in Palakkad district at around 4.30 pm on Friday, an officer of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Palakkad, said.
“No one was injured in the incident. One of the train’s windows suffered minor damage,” the officer said.
He added that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case and launched an investigation.
“GRP and RPF teams are present at Parali as part of the investigation. The stones may have been thrown by a person of unsound mind or someone who was intoxicated,” the officer said.
