Bengaluru: Congress leaders who staged protest outside Rajbhavan on Wednesday against the policies of central government and failure of state government in dealing with flood relief and rehabilitation, were detained by police and were taken on police vehicle.

On Wednesday, Congress leaders and activists gathered in front of the Gandhi statue at Maurya Circle in the city and staged massive protest alleging that the central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had failed to protect the interests of Karnataka.

Speaking on the protest, KPCC president Ishwar Khandre said that despite repeated appeals for flood relief aid, the Central and State governments have failed to live up to the expectations of the people of Karnataka.

Speaking on the occasion, BV Srinivas, President of the Indian Youth Congress, said the BJP was playing vendetta politics by intimidating Congress leaders through IT, ED and CBI.

Several senior Congress leaders attended the protest and expressed their anguish over the governance of BJP both in the state and at the Centre.
