Bengaluru: Much to the embarrassment of the BJP and Karkala legislator Sunil Kumar, the Karnataka Congress has posted on its official X account a 'missing' message on the bronze statue of Parashurama, claimed by the BJP to being installed at the new theme park in Karkala, adding an offer of a huge reward to whoever finds the missing bronze statue.

The 'Parashurama Theme Park' is being constructed by the BJP on the Umikal hillock near Bailoor of Karkala taluk, with the BJP also having declared that a gigantic statue of the warrior sage Parashurama will be installed in the park.

In its X message, the Congress has posted, "The corruption in the BJP has not spared Parashurama too, as the statue of Parashurama, which the BJP government installed at a cost of Rs 14 crore, is missing! Whoever finds the 'missing' bronze statue will be rewarded suitably," although the party has added a nota bene with a touch of mockery, "Fiber statues will not be accepted as bronze."

The statue of Parashurama worth several crores is surrounded by controversies, including allegations of irregularities in the setting up of the statue in the park. The Congress leaders as well as several locals in Karkala also claimed that the statue had 'suddenly' vanished from the park on the morning of October 13.
