Bengaluru: In a display of growing internal discord within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), legislator SR Vishwanath has openly criticized party leader R Ashok, earning the BJP the nickname 'Bucket Janata Party' according to a Congress statement on social media.

During the ongoing Winter Session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in Belagavi, Vishwanath reportedly referred to Ashok as a political leader who "works with a bucket in hand." This sharp criticism from a fellow BJP member has intensified speculations about internal conflicts within the party.

Taking a dig at the BJP MLA's remarks, the Congress posted a mocking statement on its social media platform 'X' directed at R Ashok. The statement questioned Ashok, asking, "Whom did you follow with a bucket to get the position of the Leader of the Opposition? Which brand of bucket do you use? Whom do you serve with a bucket to ensure your illegal activities remain unexposed?"

The Congress further highlighted the internal strife within the BJP, stating, "The BJP has been given various nicknames by its own members, including 'Bhrasht Janata Party,' Blackmail Janata Party, Blueboys' Janata Party, and now, newly, we find that the party has been named 'Bucket Janata Party' by one of its members."

According to the shared news report, Vishwanath, who represents Yelahanka, made these comments audibly while walking from the Assembly House during a walkout to the Opposition Party lounge. The incident allegedly led to other BJP members removing Vishwanath from the lounge, while some members chose to remain.
