Congress welcomes all who accept party ideals and constitutional values: CM Siddaramaiah
Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that the Congress party is open to welcoming anyone who agrees with its ideology and constitutional values.
Speaking to the media at his Mysuru residence, Siddaramaiah was responding to a question about whether former Channapatna MLA C.P. Yogeshwar is eager to join Congress. He remarked that the party is inclusive to those who align with its principles.
Regarding the by-election in Sandur, the Chief Minister confirmed that the Congress ticket would be given to the wife of MP E. Tukaram. He also noted that discussions are ongoing about selecting a suitable candidate for the Channapatna constituency. D.K. Suresh is also seen as a strong candidate. The final decision on ticket distribution for both Channapatna and Shiggaon constituencies will be made in the coming days.
Commenting on the recent natural disasters caused by heavy rains, Siddaramaiah assured that the government is ready to provide relief. "We have been monitoring the situation and all necessary preparations are underway. Surveys of the affected areas are also being conducted, and relief measures will be implemented promptly," he said.

Four, including two siblings, dead, five injured as truck hits motorcycle and SUV in MP's Damoh
Damoh (PTI): Four persons, including two brothers, died and five others sustained injuries after a truck hit a motorcycle and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district on Friday, a police official said.
The incident took place near Basa Tarkheda village, around 10 km from the district headquarters, close to a temple along Damoh-Sagar state highway in the evening, Sagar Naka police outpost in charge inspector Vikram Dangi said.
"The truck first hit a motorcycle, killing siblings Jeevan Ahirwar (33) and Suraj Ahirwar (30) on the spot. It then rammed into a Bolero, killing two persons identified as Raju Choudhary (50) and Dharmendra Sikhaiya (32). Five persons sustained injuries and have been hospitalised," he informed.
The truck driver and his assistant fled from the spot and efforts are on to nab them, the official added.
