Congress wins North-East Graduates constituency
Mysuru: Congress registered the first victory in the North-East Graduates constituency of Karnataka Legislative Council by ending the 30-year dominance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Congress candidate Chandrashekhar B Patil beat his nearest rival K.B. Shrinivas of BJP by a margin of 321 votes.
While the BJP's Ayanur Manjunath won the southwestern graduates constituency, Deve Gowda of BJP won the Bangalore Graduate constituency.
Ayanur Manjunath won by a slender margin of 25,250 votes.

Young rider in Kasaragod dies after losing control over bike, falling into ditch
Kasaragod: A 26-year-old rider, Justin, who was a resident of the area near Chulli Church in the district, was grievously injured in a road accident near Vellarikundu as he lost control over the motorbike and fell into a nearby ditch.
The locals reportedly took the accident victim to a hospital immediately, but Justin could not be saved.
The youngster’s body has been kept in the mortuary of the Kasaragod District Hospital and will be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem examination is conducted.
A case has been registered at the Vellarikundu Police Station and the officers are conducting the investigation.
