Bengaluru: In the background of pro-Hindutva organizations submitting an appeal to the BBMP Commissioner and Bengaluru South Deputy Commissioner of Police to prohibit non-Hindu traders at the fair in the city, the BJP MLA of Chikkapete Vidhana Sabha constituency, Uday Garudachar said, “Traders from all religious communities will be allowed to conduct business at the Bengaluru’s VV Puram’s lavish festival”, he informed.

Speaking to the media in the city on Monday, the MLA said, “The VV Puram festival is being celebrated lavishly every year. Therefore, everybody will be allowed to freely trade without any controversy. Since they have no other work to do, some of them are intentionally creating trouble”, he criticized.

“I have assumed my position after taking an oath upon the constitution. The constitution has granted rights to everybody. Therefore, othering based on caste and religion will not be there and everybody should come together and cheerfully celebrate during this festival. At home I perform the ‘Sandyavandane’, when I come beyond that I am a universal human being”, he said.
