In response to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in Kerala, the Karnataka government on Tuesday introduced fresh guidelines to address the situation.

Anticipating increased gatherings during Christmas and New Year celebrations, the State Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 has recommended the following precautions:

1. Senior Citizens and Vulnerable Groups: Individuals aged 60 and above, those with underlying health conditions (especially kidney, heart, liver problems), pregnant women, and lactating mothers are advised to wear masks when outdoors. It is recommended to avoid poorly ventilated and crowded areas.

2. Respiratory Symptoms: Individuals experiencing symptoms of respiratory infections such as fever, cough, and cold should seek prompt medical advice. Wearing a mask to cover the nose and mouth is advised, and avoiding poorly ventilated and crowded areas is crucial.

3. Personal Hygiene: Emphasizing the importance of maintaining good personal hygiene, frequent hand washing with soap and water is stressed.

4. Stay at Home: Individuals with health issues are advised to stay at home. If necessary to meet others, especially senior citizens or vulnerable individuals, wearing masks in crowded areas is recommended.

5. International Travel: Extra precautions are advised for international travel, including wearing masks at airports and inside aircraft, avoiding poorly ventilated and crowded places.
