Dakshina Kannada breaches 11k mark of COVID-19 cases; 314 new cases, 11 deaths on Wednesday
Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District on Wednesday crossed 11k-mark of COVID-19 cases in the district. The district reported 314 new cases of the virus in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases reported in the district now stands at 11,092.
The district also reported 11 deaths on Wednesday of which six were from other districts, 4 from Mangaluru and one from Bantwal.
Of the 314 new cases, 215 were from Mangaluru, 52 from Bantwal, 8 from Puttur, Sullia 2, 10 from Belthangady and 27 were from other districts.
296 patients of Coronavirus also recovered and were discharged from the hospitals.
With 8427 recoveries and 330 deaths, the district now has 2339 active cases of the deadly virus.

India bans sugar exports till Sept 30
New Delhi (PTI): India has banned the export of sugar till September 30 this year, according to a government notification.
The notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on May 13 said this order does not apply to sugar being exported to the European Union and the US under the tariff rate quota scheme.
The order is also not applicable to the shipments under the advance authorisation scheme, government-to-government exports and consignments already in the physical export pipeline.
"The export policy of Sugar (Raw Sugar, White Sugar and Refined Sugar)... is amended from 'Restricted' to 'Prohibited' with immediate effect till September 30, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier," the DGFT said.
