Hassan: In a disturbing incident in Bandihalli village of Channarayapatna taluk, Savarna individuals allegedly attacked a Dalit man following a land dispute. According to reports, the victim, identified as Rangappa, was pelted with stones and his bike was set on fire by the accused, who are currently absconding.
The incident is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement over land ownership. Some villagers claimed that the land allotted to Rangappa by the government belonged to them. On Saturday, when Rangappa conducted a survey to demarcate his land, mark its boundaries, and level the field using a JCB, the accused reportedly arrived at the scene and initiated the attack.
Upon their arrival, the accused allegedly began pelting stones at Rangappa and later set his bike ablaze, which was parked near the farm. The fire brigade was called to extinguish the fire. The Channarayapatna Nagar police station has inspected the site and is taking further action in the case.
