Davangere: A young woman was brutally murdered with her throat being slit in broad daylight near Lourdes School at Church Road in P.J Extensions on Thursday.
The murdered woman has been identified as Chand Sulthan (26). The deceased did auditing work at Vinobanagar, it is learned.
On Thursday morning, Chand Sulthan was riding her two-wheeler to work like every other day, when an accused individual stopped her vehicle and slit her throat using a knife. A critically injured Chand Sulthan breathed her last on the spot. The incident is said to have occurred in the jurisdiction of the Extension’s police station.
The reason behind the young woman’s murder is yet to be ascertained. Since the murder occurred on the main road in the city, there is panic among people.
Police Inquiry: The police who visited the murder site have been checking the CCTV installed in nearby places. An investigation is underway.

Bengaluru: The Social Welfare Department has announced the names of the five achievers who will be conferred with the ‘Dr. BR Ambedkar Award’ for this year.
The selection committee members decided on the awardees during a meeting held on March 27.

The awardees will be felicitated and conferred with the award by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during a programme to be held on Tuesday, April 14 at the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti.
