Bengaluru: The city’s Eastern Division DCP Bheemshanker Guled took the representatives of certain Kannada media channels to task for trying to paint a communal picture concerning the case of personal enmity in which the accused had conspired to place blame on another person for a misdeed done by the former.
Reportedly, a man identified as Fayaz Ullah had sold a house for Rs 35 lakhs, and a person named Azeemullah had brokered the deal. Later, Fayaz Ullah had put forth a demand seeking Rs 40 lakhs, resulting in enmity between the two individuals. Thereafter, Fayaz Ullah conspired to trap Azeemullah in a riot case and laid out a plan in this regard. The accused in this case identified as Syed Asgar, Fayaz Ullah, and Munawar were later arrested by the Honnur station police.
Amid this, certain Kannada media channels had broadcasted programs giving a communal angle to the case, and DCP Bheemshanker Guled took the concerned media representatives to task for communalizing the issue during a press conference clarifying the details of the case.
“Fayaz Ullah paid Syed Asgar to carry out this misdeed. It is true that a petrol bomb was prepared, but it was prepared as a plan to place guilt on an innocent party. However, the claim about conspiracies to murder and destroy a temple is all fake news. Although I clarified this in the morning, you will still go ahead and write whatever you want? Won’t it create unrest in society when you write that the deed was done by a Muslim person? Will you write whatever nonsense you want?” the DCP chastised the media representatives.
While the arrest of the accused was underway, Public TV broadcasted a video news report titled, “Bengalurinalli Hindu Karyakartara Hatyage Sanchu” (Conspiracy to kill Hindu activists in Bengaluru), ‘Hanuman Chalisa pratiyaagi petrol bomb’ (Petrol Bomb against Hanuman Chalisa). ‘Hindu devastaanagala mele petrol bomb hunnara’ (Petrol Bomb planned against Hindu Temples). ‘Hattu biyar batalgalalli petrol daalige plan maadiddaare’ (Petrol attack planned using 10 beer bottles)”, were the fabricated reports broadcasted by the accused TV channel.

Hyderabad (PTI): A 27-year-old man was arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly impersonating a police official and uploading fabricated videos on social media platforms to gain followers, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, who worked as a delivery executive with a food delivery aggregator, created and circulated misleading videos using AI-based software.
He falsely depicted himself as a police official and showcased weapons, potentially causing panic and misleading the public, a release from Hyderabad Police said.
Police said it came to their notice that fake videos were being circulated on social media, showing individuals posing as police personnel and displaying weapons.
Upon preliminary inquiry, it was found that the videos were fabricated using AI software and did not represent any real police activity.
The accused unlawfully impersonated a police official and created deceptive digital content, which is a punishable offence under relevant provisions of law.
Such acts can erode public trust and create unnecessary alarm, the release said.
