Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Thursday stated that the decision taken by the party high-command regarding his candidature will be final and abiding. The former CM made the remarks while speaking to media reporters in Hubballi here.
Shettar added that he had requested for party ticket from either Dharwad or Haveri constituency which was denied. He asserted that the tickets to him from these constituencies were denied due to some other reasons and that he wouldn’t want to get into it. He also added that he was now in discussion with the party regarding his candidature from Belgavi constituency.
When asked about the ‘Shettar Go Back Campaign’ in Belgavi, he opined that the situation in Belagavi was not out of control. “I have discussed the situation with the leaders in Belagavi and the high command. The opposition to V Somanna in Tumkur had ended once he was given ticket. The same would happen in Belagavi too,” he added.

He also said that him contesting from Belgaum was not finalized. “Even Yediyurappa and Vijayendra had spoken about this which could not be disclosed now,” he added.
Refusing to comment on any attempts to finish off his family politically, Shettar took a dig at senior BJP leader Prahlad Joshi adding that his political journey will be decided by his supporters and that they would teach those trying to finish him politically a lesson during the election.
Shettar said he was ready to campaign for Joshi if the party gave him the ticket. “Making BJP win is the priority now as everyone wants to see Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister for the third term,” he added hoping the party would win in all 28 constituencies due to the Modi wave.
Asked if he would be going to Delhi to seek party ticket, Shettar added that he would not be going to Delhi but would rather go to Bengaluru if needed.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.
“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.
The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.
Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
