Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar on Wednesday added that the state government will take a call of re-opening schools in the next five days.

Addressing the media persons after attending a meeting with officials of the Education department in the city, Suresh Kumar confirmed that during the meeting no decision was taken on the reopening of Primary, High School, and Pre-University Colleges in the state.

He further added that a meeting of all the top officials of the concerned departments and district officials will be held and the situation will be reviewed. He added after the meeting and receiving feedback from all quarters, the same will be discussed with the Chief Minister following which a decision will be taken.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the minister had noted even experts have suggested that it would be better if schools are reopened in a phased manner. The minister had added that not every student can afford online education which is why they have been considering opening schools.

New Delhi: In a bid to acknowledge literary translation excellence across the 24 Indian languages that it promotes, the Sahitya Akademi has issued a call for submissions for its Annual Translation Prize 2025.

As per a recent press announcement, literary translations released between January 1 2019 and December 31 2023 qualify for consideration. This award is bestowed to recognize translators who cross linguistic barriers and make regional literary treasures accessible to a larger audience.

Translators, publishers and literary enthusiast are invited to submit one copy of the translated work along with duly filled application form. May 31 2025 is the last date for submissions.
