Bengaluru: Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara on Tuesday said that in connection with the Dharmasthala case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) will conduct raids wherever necessary as part of its probe.

Speaking to reporters in the city regarding the recent raid on Mahesh Timarodi’s residence, he clarified that the State Government has not issued any directives to the SIT on whom to raid. “The SIT is conducting the investigation independently. If necessary, they will raid anyone and summon them for questioning. They do not inform us beforehand about whom they intend to raid,” he said.

He further stated that the SIT constituted by the State Government is carrying out the investigation effectively, and hence there is no need for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to intervene. “The SIT report will be submitted soon,” he added.

Dr. Parameshwara stressed that the investigation is being taken very seriously. “On what grounds are BJP leaders holding the government responsible? We have taken every necessary measure. It is not appropriate to claim that the SIT itself is part of a conspiracy. Lakhs of devotees had expressed concern regarding Dharmasthala. To bring out the truth, the SIT was constituted,” he said.

Noida (PTI): A 46-year-old businessman was burnt to death after his moving car caught fire in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, the victim was identified as Rajkumar Singhal, who was engaged in the paint business. The incident occurred late on Monday night near Sorkha village under the Sector 113 police station area.

Station House Officer Krishna Gopal Sharma said Singhal was driving towards Parthala Chowk when his vehicle suddenly caught fire for reasons yet to be ascertained.

Singhal was unable to get out of the car and died in the blaze, the SHO said.

Fire tenders reached the spot after receiving information, but the car had already been gutted, police said. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and an investigation is underway.

Police suspect the presence of paint or other inflammable material in the car may have caused the fire to spread rapidly.
