Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister and local MLA Siddaramaiah instructed the concerned officials to release water from the Navilu Teerth reservoir in Belgavi to the Malaprabha River due to lack of drinking water in some villages of the Badami assembly constituency.

Speaking to the Belgavi Regional Commissioner via telephone, Siddaramaiah said that the villages of Malaprabha area in the Badami assembly constituency, has the scarcity of water. Hence he suggested that the water be released.

The release of water to the Malaprabha River will solve the drinking water problem, and the crops will also get water. The Regional Commissioner said that immediate action would be taken to release water.

Also going unsold were New Zealand batting stars Kane Williamson and Glenn Phillips.

South African veteran Faf du Plessis and West Indies' Rovman Powell were bought for Rs two crore and Rs 1.50 crore by Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively, but seasoned India batter Ajinkya Rahane went unsold.

The unsold players can find buyers later in the day during the accelerated auction if their names are given by the franchises.
