In a tragic incident near Bengaluru, a 45-year-old truck driver, identified as Arogyaswamy, lost his life after being run over by the very vehicle he was operating.
The accident occurred near Sanamavu, under the jurisdiction of the Hosur Police Station on the Tamil Nadu border. Arogyaswamy was responsible for transporting the elephant used to carry the howdah of the deity at the Champakadhama temple in Bannerghatta.
According to sources, the accident transpired when Arogyaswamy parked the truck on a slope near Sanamavu and stepped out momentarily. Unfortunately, he had not applied the handbrake, causing the truck to roll downhill uncontrollably. Tragically, the truck struck Arogyaswamy before plunging into a gorge. The driver lost his life on the spot.
Additionally, six other individuals who were traveling in the truck sustained injuries during the incident. The injured were rushed to the hospital where they are receiving treatment.
Upon receiving the report of the accident, police officers and constables from the Hudco Police Station in Hosur arrived at the scene. Utilizing a crane and an earthmover, they retrieved the truck from the gorge.

Thane (PTI): Two young men were killed and another was seriously injured when a speeding bus rammed into their motorcycle in Mumbra area of the city on Tuesday evening, police said.
The victims, all residents of Thakur Pada, were riding from Roshni Mahel toward Y Junction.
"The motorcycle was hit from behind by a bus driven by Mustafa Hussain Sheikh (58). The two-wheeler got dragged under the front wheel of the bus," said a traffic police official.
Sangam Rajesh Pulshare (21) and Avinash Ramdas Davande (19) died while Mahesh Bhagwan Vare (18) sustained serious injuries.
The bus driver was detained and a case was being registered at the Mumbra police station, said the official.
