Chikkamagaluru: A farmer, identified as Mallikarjuna from Karehalli village in Kadur taluk, attempted to end his life by consuming poison in the Kadur Civil Court premises today. The desperate act was reportedly spurred by the court's unfavorable verdict regarding a land dispute in which Mallikarjuna was embroiled.
The dispute, concerning Mallikarjuna's land, had been under litigation within the Kadur Civil Court. Despite filing an appeal against the initial ruling, Mallikarjuna found himself facing another setback when the court upheld its decision against him. Feeling unjustly treated, Mallikarjuna resorted to drastic measures, consuming poison at the court premises.
Mallikarjuna was immediately taken to the taluk hospital for initial treatment. He was subsequently transferred to Hassan Hospital for further care. Fortunately, Mallikarjuna's life was saved, averting the imminent danger posed by the ingestion of poison.
