Bengaluru, May 10: The Election Commission has filed an FIR against MLA Muniratna Naidu and 13 others in connection with the recovery of fake voter identity cards at home in Jalhahalli.

The FIR, which has been lodged against 14 people including BBMP's former BJP member Manjula Nanjamari, Manjunath, and several others, has named MLA Muniratna as 14th accused; the election commissioner informed.

Thousands of identity cards were found when election officials had conducted the raid. Handouts carrying MLA Muniratna's photo were also recovered from the spot. Following which, an FIR was lodged against the MLA based on the instructions of election commission officials.

However, the Jalahalli police have arrested Yeshwantpur Congress corporator JK Venkatesh and one Raghu, and the inquiry is on.

The police and election officials, who have registered FIR against the accused under IPC Section 120B and 171, are conducting a joint investigation.

I have no connection with the case: Muniratna

"I have no connection with the case related to fake voter ID cards that were recovered from Jalahalli. BJP is behind this," RR Nagar Congress MLA Muniratna stated.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Muniratna accused that BJP is behind the incident where fake voter Id cards were recovered from a flat in SLV apartment.

The FIR has been registered against me as handouts were containing my photo. I have distributed around 40,000 handouts with the permission of the commission. In every home my handouts are available. I have no connection with this case.

Why did BJP workers not complained to police after visiting the apartment? What was the need to shoot a video before the arrival of police? While all the recovered Id cards belong to residents, we do not have any necessity to get them. This is all BJP's work. Previously also BJP had done the similar activity in Hebbal constituency.

Bengaluru: BJP MLA Muniratna has been arrested once again, this time in connection with a rape case.

After being held in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Jail over a caste slur case, he was released on conditional bail just yesterday.

Reports suggest that Muniratna’s lawyer submitted the bail order to the jail authorities, and shortly after the formalities were completed, officers from Kaggalipura Police Station in Ramnagar district took him into custody.

The Ramnagar police had been stationed near the jail since Thursday night, awaiting his release in order to arrest him.
